Recently, I was introduced to the idea of the ticker tape that runs continuously through the minds of women. Womens’ ticker tapes contain every detail for work, home, spouse and children, including food shopping, meal planning, school deadlines, school projects, soccer practice schedules, game schedules, chores, and on and on. So well intentioned husbands ask “Honey, what can I do to help you out?” And yet, the fact remains that he still has to ask, which means someone else is the keeper of all that information – the wife. This mental ticker tape (or chyron) requires mental and emotional energy to sustain it.
Join me as I speak with Dr. Regina Lark who recently published her 3rd book, Emotional Labor: Why A Woman’s Work is Never Done and What To Do About It.
Topics covered:
The difference between physical labor and emotional labor
What are our best ways to support women in upping their level of relaxation, or focusing on self-care?
What the drive to be in control combined with the drive to be on top of everything leads to for women.
How can women begin to let go of the ticker tape?
How can men better support them in that goal?
The difference between male ADHD and female ADHD
